The Blasted Heath
10:07
|
|||
Breathing a stale air,
Terrified within its gaze
Imagination fails to capture
I see it spreading,
Consuming organisms
A world of nothing but grey
And the strangest light...
Test of resiliance
Enduring the plague
A sentient disease
Burning within
Brightness fading
Simmering, dull glow
Distant visitor receiving
Height of arrogance
Selfish needs feeding,
It conquers
Distant visitor receiving
Height of arrogance
Selfish aims feeding
Its empire
Somewhere in time
Touched by the divine
Corroding my essence
Pacing my home
Attrition, alone
Aching to find some solace
Lost in here
Just a step outside
The ashes beneath my feet
People are vapours
Words I cannot speak
And I will go
And I will go
Another face dissolving into a colourless cloud
Flames of murder devouring whole
What remains of this place?
The blasted heath, swallowed by waves

Visions in my dreams
Pressure me again
Time stretches thin
They follow me
Beckoning me home,
Wherever that is
High in this empty sky,
Or down below my feet
Awake to cries
Rodent, a curse
Slither, the beast
Failure, the truth
Awake to cries
Rodent, a curse
Slither, the beast
Failure, the truth
Dying, dying, dying, dying
Dying
My skin is beginning to peel
In the closeness of the sun I am slipping away
I see here clutched in my hand
A relic of a world many parsecs beyond
With guilt I consider my course
Here's an infant and a blade right in front of me
And when I choose to slay the witch
It's a shame my sacrifice is only made in vain

Lament
04:37
|
|||
Life no longer cedes anything,
A drag into mediocrity
Though, with a new obsession,
Mind gives in to curiosity
Intentions of the design
The pleasures received in pain
Lament unto the divine,
Infernal, and absolute
Hear the toll of the ravenous
The air is still in this cemetary
And when the beast brings its vision,
Flesh gives in to perforation
Intentions of the design
The pleasures received in pain
Lament unto the divine,
Infernal, and absolute
Feel the never ending expectation
When our skin is flayed
Hear the screams of a thousand exhalations
Through our ringing ears
Our future belongs to the Priest
See the corridors of abomination:
Our nightmare is only beginning

The Great Release
09:12
|
|||
I take flight
In skies of green
Dreams are pale,
White light fading
In the night,
Journeys unseen
Silver string,
Release me!
Into night
Into night
I will stare into the flame
I will never be the same
I will now forget my name
I will stare into the flame!
Dead
Dead and free

The Widower of Nyos
07:57
|
|||
The emergence of a Mass,
Beyond my field of vision.
Cursing air and coating skin,
With secretions malignant and vile.
My garments stained a russet hue,
Flesh sore and riddled with lesions.
Eyes foggy and burning to close,
My voice is but a whisper.
The Mass has consumed me,
The Mass is unyielding.
A village in fear
Children starving
Motivates me
To remedy
Our village is in shambles,
Crops tainted with its gale.
Cattle bloated and stagnated
The lake screams in terror.
I have betrayed these people
In my quest for fire.
The silence feels so numbing,
Will this be the end of me?
With her voice
With her moans
With her blood
With resolve
When the earth
And the skies
Quiver and quake
My cries resonate
Arise from this smother
In a haste to liberate.
What's left of my village,
What's left of my greed.
My chest aches with malice,
Limbs stiff and hesitant to move.
Pushing through this misery,
Floundering over the dead and weakened.
Her presence is clear
Nyos is where she dwells
Our lives are forfeit
My eyes swell with hate
You're almost through; keep moving,
Feel the will of C'thalpa.
My efforts are for naught,
The Mass bellows through.
Forever consuming,
Forever neverending.
I have nothing left to give you,
Skies blackend with her gaze.
For your cries
For your deceit
For your curse
For your reality
I called upon her
I pleaded to her
I sacrificed for her
I trusted her
I'll reap what I have sown
Eyes piercing through the Void
I'll reap what I have sown
My soul has transformed
I'll reap what I have sown

Federal Hill
05:15
|
|||
A view in the distance
See the steeple rising high above
They don't speak its name or even look up, if possible
The still beating fragment
Of blackheart on the hilltop looking down
On the slums that cower under its oppression
The tug of a question:
From where does this fear emanate?
Curiosity has dragged me through the streets and up the hill
A cult's apparatus,
Artefact of an infernal nature
My hands trace the edges of its surfaces
Now it knows me, and it's on its way
As it sees me in the dark
Now it knows me, and it's on its way
And it finds me in the dark
A manifold problem,
Featureless faces hidden behind their cowls
Its presence stifles all optimism in the city
(I've found what it hides and it knows me) Now it knows me
(I've seen what it holds and it haunts me) And it's on its way
(I know what's inside and it finds me) And it sees me in the dark
Cowering here, cowering here
(I've found what it hides and it knows me) Now it knows me
(I've seen what it holds and it haunts me) And it's on its way
(I know what's inside and it finds me) And it finds me in the dark
Cowering here as the lights go out

The Expedition
13:12
|
|||
An unexpected silence
The snow is caked with blood
And there's no one left
Lifeless bodies stare
The Things we found are gone
What happened here?
It's almost like they wanted
To see what makes us work
Methodically
Dismantled like toys
Arranged and organized
So clinical!
Far away from another human,
So far from help
Should we fly away while we can,
Or do we need an answer?
Far removed from rational choices
Searching for truth
Should we run away while we can,
Or do I need an answer?
From the skies, these unnatural features:
A mass of towers unlike any on Earth,
In the middle of a frozen wasteland,
An ancient settlement remains preserved
On the ground, looking up at the ramparts:
Nothing man has ever made can compare
The incredible size of this city,
It could hold ten Manhattans within!
Do you see it? Can you believe it?
Can such a thing exist in this world?
Do you see it? Can you believe it?
Can such a thing really be true?
With my eyes, I see these incongruities:
Lines and angles that don't meet as they should,
These unusual shapes and geometries,
Something more horrible than time has withstood
With my ears, I hear unnerving whispers:
Is it the wind or is it something inside?
We're determined to delve in these caverns
I can't conjecture what we will find
Do you see it? Can you believe it?
Can such a thing exist in this world?
Do you see it? Can you believe it?
Can such a thing really be true?
My zeal for discovery is overwhelming every instinct
Of retreat that I have
I don't know what I'll find in this place
But I have to see it, I have to know
A horrible, whistling sound is echoing through
These Cyclopean walls
I don't know if I'll even survive
But I have to see it, I have to know
And once I am inside
These ancient artworks catch my eye
The history they show
Of beings whom our scientists don't know
The wars these creatures waged
And how their civilization aged
The last thing that I find
Is all about the monsters that they left behind
So we travel even deeper into the bowels of this tomb
Everything that I'm documenting could be lost with me
What will I do if I can't find my way back home?
Will anyone else ever see what I've seen,
Know what I know?
Something giant like a train is barreling down
Through the tunnels directly at me
I don't know if I'll even survive
But I have to see it, I have to know
My greed for hidden knowledge
Is overwhelming every instinct
Of retreat that I have
I don't know what I'll find in this place
But I have to see it!
I have to know!
