lyrics
An unexpected silence
The snow is caked with blood
And there's no one left
Lifeless bodies stare
The Things we found are gone
What happened here?
It's almost like they wanted
To see what makes us work
Methodically
Dismantled like toys
Arranged and organized
So clinical!
Far away from another human,
So far from help
Should we fly away while we can,
Or do we need an answer?
Far removed from rational choices
Searching for truth
Should we run away while we can,
Or do I need an answer?
From the skies, these unnatural features:
A mass of towers unlike any on Earth,
In the middle of a frozen wasteland,
An ancient settlement remains preserved
On the ground, looking up at the ramparts:
Nothing man has ever made can compare
The incredible size of this city,
It could hold ten Manhattans within!
Do you see it? Can you believe it?
Can such a thing exist in this world?
Do you see it? Can you believe it?
Can such a thing really be true?
With my eyes, I see these incongruities:
Lines and angles that don't meet as they should,
These unusual shapes and geometries,
Something more horrible than time has withstood
With my ears, I hear unnerving whispers:
Is it the wind or is it something inside?
We're determined to delve in these caverns
I can't conjecture what we will find
Do you see it? Can you believe it?
Can such a thing exist in this world?
Do you see it? Can you believe it?
Can such a thing really be true?
My zeal for discovery is overwhelming every instinct
Of retreat that I have
I don't know what I'll find in this place
But I have to see it, I have to know
A horrible, whistling sound is echoing through
These Cyclopean walls
I don't know if I'll even survive
But I have to see it, I have to know
And once I am inside
These ancient artworks catch my eye
The history they show
Of beings whom our scientists don't know
The wars these creatures waged
And how their civilization aged
The last thing that I find
Is all about the monsters that they left behind
So we travel even deeper into the bowels of this tomb
Everything that I'm documenting could be lost with me
What will I do if I can't find my way back home?
Will anyone else ever see what I've seen,
Know what I know?
Something giant like a train is barreling down
Through the tunnels directly at me
I don't know if I'll even survive
But I have to see it, I have to know
My greed for hidden knowledge
Is overwhelming every instinct
Of retreat that I have
I don't know what I'll find in this place
But I have to see it!
I have to know!
